Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

You don’t have to stop the waves. You can learn to surf them.
DBT is a structured, evidence-based therapy that helps people better manage emotions, navigate relationships, and cope with stress in healthier ways.
Originally developed by psychologist Dr. Marsha Linehan, DBT combines practical coping skills with compassion and self-awareness. It is highly effective for individuals struggling with:
  • Anxiety and panic attacks
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Emotional overwhelm
  • Mood swings and reactivity
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Self-harm urges or suicidal thoughts
  • Chronic stress and burnout
At its core, DBT teaches two important truths:
You are doing the best you can.
And you can learn skills to do even better.

The goal of DBT is not just surviving difficult emotions — but building a life that feels meaningful, balanced, and worth living.

The Four Core DBT Skills
  •  Mindfulness : Learn to slow down, stay present, and respond intentionally instead of reacting impulsively.
  • Emotion Regulation: Understand emotions more clearly and develop healthier ways to manage emotional intensity.
  • Interpersonal Effectiveness: Build healthier relationships, communicate confidently, and set boundaries without guilt.
  • Distress Tolerance : Develop tools to safely navigate emotional crises, panic, overwhelm, and difficult moments without making things worse.
Who Can Benefit from DBT?
DBT can help children, teens, and adults who feel emotionally overwhelmed, reactive, stuck in unhealthy patterns, or disconnected from themselves.
It is especially helpful for:
  • Trauma survivors
  • People-pleasers
  • Individuals with anxiety or mood instability
  • Teens struggling with emotional regulation
  • High-achievers experiencing internal burnout
